Sharjah Waste to Energy Plant is testing to start! 🎉🎉🎉
Construction of the UAE’s first waste-to-energy plant is complete, with the project now entering the testing and commissioning phase 💪
The plant will enable Sharjah to become the Middle East’s ‘first zero-waste city’, turning unrecyclable waste into clean energy and increasing the current landfill diversion rate from 76 per cent to 100 per cent. It will help reduce waste sent to landfill across the UAE, while contributing to the nation’s clean energy resources. At full operational capacity, the Sharjah plant will help divert up to 300,000 tonnes of unrecyclable waste away from landfill each year while producing 30 MW of low-carbon electricity, enough to power 28,000 homes in Sharjah 🤩
What was our humble contribution? 🤔
As CNIM subcontractor, our scope of design included:
👉 monitoring and reporting tools for site activities: cable route installations, cable pulling, terminations, equipment installation, motor and cable tests, etc.)
👉 technical specification for installation materials including applicable standards for: cables, cable ladders, conduits, accessories, junction boxes, labels
👉 design of 3D cable routes including cable pulling cards
3D cable simulation (bend radius) and review of main motors terminal boxes compatibilities including specifications and BOQ of requested extension boxes
👉 3D typical drawing of cables ways supports including the calculation notes and BOQ
👉 preparation of power, I&C, communication, and earthing cable schedules
👉 design of false floor including detailed design of supporting arms and collisions with cable ladders
👉 cables drum specification for purchasing
👉 detailed bill of materials for glanding, cable lugs, cable ties, etc.
👉 terminal wiring diagrams
👉 as-built documentation
👉 site supervision during cable tray and cable installation
