We have recently visited the Lithuanian Embassy to discuss possible cooperation in the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant, a decommissioned two-unit RBMK-1500 nuclear power station in Visaginas Municipality.
Together with members of Izba Gospodarcza Energetyki i Ochrony Środowiska and representatives of the Ministry of Climate and Environment (Ministerstwo Klimatu i Środowiska), we have discussed the possibility of cooperation between Polish companies and the global nuclear power sector on the project 🤝
What activities are planned? 🤔
Construction of the Near Surface Repository for Low- and Intermediate-Level Short-Lived Radioactive Waste project is pending in the Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant.
The main infrastructure of the Repository will be reinforced with concrete basements installed above the level of groundwater subsidence, where radioactive waste is placed in special containers.
What the project is about? 🤔
This project will cover structures dedicated to protect the plant against possible physical impact, be it climate, animals or other.
Ignalina NPP management is looking for constructors also among Polish companies which may be a great opportunity for us to participate in responsible and necessary changes in the nuclear energy sector.
